Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.

  • Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.

  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.

  • Help with mobility and physical activities, including heavy lifting when necessary.

  • Implement behaviour management strategies for clients with specific needs, such as dementia care.

  • Maintain accurate records of client care and report any concerns to the supervising nurse or healthcare professional.

  • Ensure a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties as needed.

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalised care plans.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in home care, assisted living, or hospice care is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of medication administration protocols and first aid procedures.

  • Ability to manage behaviours associated with dementia or other cognitive impairments.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.

  • Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility challenges.

  • A caring attitude coupled with patience and empathy towards individuals requiring assistance.

  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in health or social care are an advantage but not essential.
