About the Team
The Conferences and Events team plays a vital role in advancing the University’s strategic vision through professional delivery of events and services. Following industry recovery and significant investment in on-campus and city-centre venues, the team’s income is expected to grow from £2 million to as much as £4 million.
Role Purpose
To support this growth, the University seeks a Business Development Manager who will:
Proactively develop, implement, and deliver an ambitious sales strategy
Support academic colleagues in attracting national and international association conferences
Engage with venue finding and event management agencies
Independently research local industry sectors to position the University as a preferred venue in the Leeds city region
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a motivated and experienced business development professional with:
A strong track record in generating new business within a commercial sales environment
Significant expertise in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions)
Deep understanding of local industry sectors
Passion for events and a can-do attitude
Proven ability to achieve sales targets
Excellent teamwork and communication skills at all levels
