An exciting opportunity is available at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a motivated, dedicated, and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist to join the pharmacy team in critical care.
This tertiary referral centre includes a wide range of specialties such as cardiothoracics, transplant, haematology-oncology, neurosciences, burns, and trauma. The integrated pharmacy team focuses on medication safety and optimising medicines use in critically ill patients by participating in ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
This role includes rotation across four adult critical care units and supporting services such as theatres and the Perioperative & Critical Care board.

Main Duties
Provide person-centred care and expert pharmaceutical advice across adult critical care units.
Collaborate with medical, nursing, pharmacy, and interprofessional teams.
Deliver and develop service improvement strategies promoting safe, rational, and cost-effective medicines use.
Assist with training, clinical supervision, and have opportunities for research and teaching through departmental links with the School of Pharmacy in Newcastle.
Participate in extended hours, on-call service, and regular weekend work as part of the pharmacy directorate.

Experience
Essential:
Significant post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy
Demonstrated post-graduate pharmacy experience
Experience working with specialist patient cohorts
Previous work in hospital environments
Desirable:
Experience working in a specialist area
Clinical audit involvement
Qualifications
Essential:
UK-registered pharmacist (GPhC)
MPharm degree or equivalent with pre-registration training
Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent practice-based portfolio
Desirable:
Clinical Diploma or Clinical Masters
Independent prescriber registration (GPhC)
