An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Finance Business Partner to join the financial management team, supporting one of the Care Groups with day-to-day financial management duties.

The post holder will report to the Senior Finance Business Partner, supporting strategic and financial delivery, working closely with clinical and non-clinical team members, as well as the wider finance team, to drive positive outcomes.

Applicants must hold a relevant professional accounting qualification and have experience in a financial management environment, as well as with financial accounting systems and procedures. NHS finance experience would be advantageous. Excellent organisational and communication skills, along with the ability to prioritise workload and work flexibly to meet deadlines, are essential.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Liaise with departmental managers, Clinical Business Unit managers, and Care Group managers to set Care Group budgets within Trust-wide parameters, maintaining and reviewing these in line with Trust SFIs and other appropriate policies.

  • Create and interpret monthly financial reports to ensure managers have accurate financial information for decision-making.

  • Support budget holders in analysis, maintenance, and control of budgets (including cost improvement schemes), ensuring new appointments or developments are within agreed establishment and recurrent finances are identified.

  • Produce monthly reports for the Care Group, including forecast information for both income and expenditure.

  • Produce monthly financial reports reflecting all known budget information at that point in time, such as accruals, stock takes, in-year savings, or changes in service delivery.

Person Specification

Skills and Knowledge

  • Essential:

    • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

    • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people and colleagues of all levels

Qualifications

  • Essential:

    • Qualified in a relevant accountancy qualification (Level 7 e.g., CIMA, ACCA)

Experience

  • Essential:

    • Recent, sufficient, and relevant work experience in a finance environment within a large and complex organisation

    • Understanding of accounting principles, including:

      • Variance analysis and reporting

      • Accruals and provisions

      • Forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning

      • Financial modelling

  • Desirable:

    • Experience of working with clinical activity information
