Job Summary
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to join the Executive Team during an exciting phase of its improvement journey.
The CFO will lead an ambitious programme to deliver significant financial savings in 2025/26 and 2026/27, aiming to achieve financial balance in 2026/27. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues across the organisation on waste reduction, control measures, and improving run rates, while also working with the wider health system.
This position requires energy, talent, and innovation to further develop and implement the Trust’s financial sustainability plan.

As an Executive Director of the Trust Board and a member of the Executive Team, the CFO will contribute to corporate management and the strategic direction of the Trust.

Qualifications and Personal Development – Essential
CCAB Accountancy qualification.
Evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
Educated to Masters level or equivalent analytical and critical thinking skills.
Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of improvement procedures and practices.
Experience – Essential
Significant experience as a Board-level Finance Director in the NHS (preferably provider sector).
Proven track record of achievement in the role of Finance Director.
Experience in all aspects of NHS financial management.
Ability to lead process improvement in highly complex settings.
Senior-level strategic, operational, or corporate service management in a large, complex environment.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships, influence change, and manage resistance.
Negotiation and diplomacy skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
