Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Pharmacist to join its well-established rotational training programme.
The role offers structured support from Principal and Senior Pharmacists, with rotations across multiple specialties, including:
Acute Medicine
Gastroenterology
Respiratory
Oncology/Aseptic Services
Cardiology
Care of Elderly/Frailty
Medicines Information
Patient Services
Paediatrics
Women’s Services
Mental Health (KMPT)
Trauma and Orthopaedics
Surgery
Future plans include expanding rotations into Mental Health and General Practice.
The Trust supports development through the Foundation Pharmacist Framework and encourages involvement in training other staff across the department. Current Trainee Pharmacists are welcome to apply. The primary base will be Fordcombe Hospital, with the Mental Health rotation delivered via Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.
Main Duties
Optimise patient care during hospital stay and discharge.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with doctors, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
Provide ward-based care during clinical rotations, engaging directly with patients.
Collaborate closely with the Medicines Management Technician team on wards.
Participate in weekend, Bank Holiday, late night, and on-call rotas.
The Trust places emphasis on developing foundation pharmacists into senior team members, providing opportunities for growth.

Qualifications
Essential:
Master’s degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
Trainee Pharmacist (Pre-Registration) training and experience
Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable:
Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Postgraduate certificate/diploma in a pharmaceutical specialty
Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
Suitable for newly registered pharmacists, pharmacists, or current Trainee Pharmacists
Strong clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge (cost-effective use of medicines)
Experience delivering a high-quality pharmacy service
Desirable:
Hospital clinical/dispensary pharmacy experience
Multidisciplinary team working experience
Awareness of NHS changes and initiatives (e.g. NICE, NSF)
Understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management
Skills
Essential:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
