The University of Northampton is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Manager to join the Finance Department. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Finance and Planning to:
Provide strategic direction for University procurement.
Achieve best value for money and encourage sustainable procurement.
Enable social enterprise engagement where applicable.
Drive process efficiencies and cost reduction across the University.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, build relationships, and negotiate favourable contract terms.
Provide expert advice on procurement regulations.
This role also includes managing a team of three: a Buyer & Procurement Compliance Officer and two Purchase to Pay Assistants.
Smarter Working options are available to provide flexibility, supporting both the University and the individual.
About You
Candidates must have:
Detailed knowledge of public sector procurement regulations.
Demonstrable experience of successfully managing a large value tender exercise.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
Proven ability to plan and implement procurement initiatives that generate significant savings.
The ability to make independent decisions to support the University’s procurement strategy.
Qualifications (Essential)
A Level standard qualification or equivalent.
Professional Procurement qualification.
