About the Role
The Head of Front-End position is one of the first engineering hires at Tracer. The role involves building every user-facing surface, including real-time dashboards and complex data visualizations.
As the front-end technical lead, responsibilities include driving architecture decisions, owning the web platform end to end, and setting the standard for design-engineering excellence.
This high-impact role is suited for someone eager to move quickly, take ownership of major product areas, and shape the company’s engineering and product DNA from the ground up.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain web and mobile applications using Next.js and TypeScript
Lead front-end architecture across the product surface area
Implement real-time observability dashboards and advanced data visualizations
Connect UI to backend services (Clickhouse, Rust APIs, AWS)
Manage deployment pipelines via Vercel and AWS
Set up reusable components, design systems, and internal tooling
Collaborate with design, product, and backend teams to deliver cohesive experiences
Establish technical standards and contribute to growing the front-end team
Requirements
Required
3+ years of full-time experience building complex front-ends or full-stack applications
Deep expertise in React, Next.js, and TypeScript
Proven ability to ship, maintain, and scale production-grade web applications
Experience deploying via Vercel or similar frameworks
Strong product intuition and design sensitivity
Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment
Bonus
Experience with Clickhouse or other high-performance databases
Background in data visualization or observability tooling
Previous lead or front-end ownership in a startup or product build
Experience integrating with scientific tools (Nextflow, AlphaFold) or dev infra (eBPF, Terraform)
