Main Duties of the Job
Day-to-day management including planning and allocation of resources and tasks.
Lead in the development, implementation and evaluation of a range of communications campaigns, including managing budgets, schedules, contractors, and suppliers.
Commission, write and edit complex internal and external communications materials such as reports, articles, media releases, statements and information products.
Develop and maintain knowledge of all the Trust’s communication systems and platforms, including social media, while measuring and monitoring effectiveness.
Work in partnership with colleagues across the Trust and external organisations to deliver communication plans and projects to deadline.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Manage planning and allocation of resources and tasks.
Develop, implement, and evaluate communication campaigns.
Commission, write, and edit reports, articles, and media releases.
Maintain knowledge of communication systems, including social media.
Partner with teams across the Trust and external organisations.
Ensure consistency in use of the Trust’s corporate image and NHS branding guidelines.
Provide advice and support to staff, directors, managers, and clinical colleagues.
Train colleagues in use of communications tools and channels.
Participate in out-of-hours on-call communications as needed.
Support the wider Communications Team, including reactive media enquiries and Trust-wide communications.
Financial Management
Monitor budgets within the portfolio.
Authorise use of credit card for agreed spend.
Act as Authorised Signatory for payments.
Maintain financial commitment and spending records in line with audit requirements.
Communication and Working Relationships
Develop relationships across the organisation and with external contacts (networks, commissioning bodies, regulators, journalists).
Act as communications lead during organisational change and complex situations.
Convey sensitive and complex information related to Trust operations and strategy.
Information and Systems
Ensure timely and accurate input into e-roster and staff record systems.
Maintain accurate data in communications management systems and databases.
Additional Duties
Complete mandatory training in line with Trust policy.
Stay updated on Trust policies.
Provide management supervision where appropriate.
Person Specification
Skills (Essential):
Devising and executing communication strategies and plans.
Strong knowledge of internal communications methods.
Media relations and copywriting experience across press releases, newsletters, and websites.
Knowledge (Essential):
Extensive management within a communications department.
Experience (Essential):
Experience of working in the NHS, public sector, or a membership organisation.
