This team, supported by Deputy Finance Managers and Management Accountants, works strategically with senior managers and clinicians to drive and support business decisions within Clinical Directorates.

The successful applicant will be CCAB qualified (or equivalent), educated to degree level (or equivalent), and able to demonstrate continued personal development.

Office presence is expected; the team currently operates in a hybrid model, in agreement with line managers and business needs.

Main Duties of the Role

The Finance Business Partner will support the Clinical Divisions to ensure that the Trust meets both financial and performance targets by:

  • Working with the Senior Management Team of the Clinical Directorate to develop a Strategic Business Plan for the Division.

  • Reporting the financial position of the Division to the monthly Directorate Performance Review meeting and providing commentary for the Trust Board report.

  • Analysing and interpreting financial and non-financial data using benchmarking and other resources to make recommendations for improvement and support the change process.

  • Line management and development responsibility of a Deputy Finance Manager, including appraisals and personal development planning.

Person Specification

Education & Qualification (Essential)

  • Degree qualification level

  • CCAB qualified

Experience & Knowledge (Essential)

  • Proven financial management skills

  • Proven analytical and presentation skills

  • Knowledge of financial processes

  • Experience of budget management in a complex environment

  • Advanced computer skills (spreadsheets, reporting, accounting systems)

  • Ability to present financial information to senior managers, including executive directors

  • Experience reporting and monitoring non-financial information

  • Evidence of strategic financial planning and delivery

  • Evidence of staff management skills and approaches

Desirable:

  • Experience of changing processes and maximising IT system benefits

  • Experience of NHS Capital accounting

  • Additional experience in monitoring non-financial information

  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
