Main Duties of the Job
Integration Engine Support & Maintenance
Monitor, support, install, configure, and upgrade the Trust’s integration engines (Mirth Connect and Health Connect).
Deliver changes and enhancements to maintain performance, security, and high availability.
Interface Development
Design, build, and maintain interfaces using HL7, FHIR, SQL, PL/SQL, ODBC calls, XML/XSLT, Windows Batch Files, Web Services, Java, TCL, .NET, and DICOM.
Support the transition to FHIR-based integration where required.
Interface Support & Troubleshooting
Provide technical support for all integration solutions, both engine-based and point-to-point.
Monitor system performance, investigate issues, and coordinate fixes or improvements with suppliers and internal teams.
Database Support
Assist with database administration tasks linked to integration.
Collaborate with external providers for device integration.
Maintain a detailed understanding of the Trust’s data structures and flows to ensure safe and effective data exchange.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential:
Degree in IT or equivalent technical experience.
Desirable:
Formal certification in HL7, FHIR, or interoperability standards.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
Extensive knowledge of HL7 2.x, HL7 v3, FHIR.
Experience using Mirth Interfacing Engine in an enterprise organisation.
Experience using Intersystems Health Connect Interfacing Engine in an enterprise organisation.
Desirable:
Experience with FHIR integration projects in a live NHS setting.
Previous experience working within an NHS Trust.
