Job Summary
The Financial Accountant is responsible for undertaking reconciliations and preparing bank payments in conjunction with the Financial Accounts Manager, as well as allocating income. This post also provides cover for the Senior Financial Accountant.

Main Duties
Export bank statements daily to post journals to the Cashbook Ledger
Prepare CHAPS and foreign payments as required
Prepare and post income journals to Accounts Receivable Ledger and General Ledger once agreed to invoices and/or codes, ensuring journals reconcile to the bank statement
Set up, amend, and remove standing orders
Prepare and post journals for cancelled cheques and recalled BACS
Reconcile and prepare payroll allowance and deduction schedules, resolving queries and errors
Reconcile Balance Sheet codes monthly, addressing queries in a timely manner

Job Description – Key Responsibilities
Financial management of the Childcare Nursery voucher scheme, including reconciliation of deductions and preparation of payment schedules
Investigate and resolve queries from employees, payroll contractors, voucher providers, and Kings Nursery staff
Open/amend supplier accounts for Accounts Payable
Investigate unidentified income with Accounts Receivable, Income Accountant, customers, and banks
Maintain the Losses and Compensation Register
Manage queries related to Salary Overpayments and Salary Sacrifice schemes (Financial Accounting function)
Input monthly/quarterly information to the Trust’s Fixed Asset Register
Assist in preparing and implementing statutory annual accounts
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
Educated to at least AAT Member level, degree level, or equivalent specialist knowledge/training through experience
Qualified CCAB to Foundation Level
Desirable:
ECDL qualification
Knowledge
Essential:
Significant finance department experience, including financial accounting
Experience using financial systems
Knowledge of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
Understanding of cashbook accounts and reconciliations
Skills
Essential:
Knowledge of budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting methods
Ability to apply accounting concepts for balance sheet reconciliations
Skilled in preparing reports and investigating variances
