Main Duties
Promote, lead, and act in line with personalisation principles, supporting wellbeing and individual rights within a multidisciplinary mental health team.
Provide expert, consistent, and robust social care practice advice in partnership with senior colleagues.
Support newly qualified social workers through the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE), acting as an assessor and engaging in the moderation process.
Undertake duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or be willing to undertake AMHP training.
Champion social care with a strong understanding of legislation and statutory guidance.
Maintain links with the corporate Social Work and Safeguarding Team, attending meetings and providing consistent legal and practice advice.
Carry out complex assessments and reviews for high-risk individuals or those with significant complexities under the Care Act 2014.
Offer direct support to service users, carers, and colleagues, ensuring appropriate signposting for those not meeting social care eligibility.
Person Specification
Essential
Professional social work qualification.
Registration with Social Work England.
Degree-level education (Masters desirable).
Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) training or willingness to complete within a year.
Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience with evidence of excellent advanced practice.
Strong knowledge of legislation, statutory guidance, theory, and policy in adult and children’s social care.
Experience in assessments, personalisation, choice, control, and care planning.
Understanding of personal budgets and direct payments.
Experience supervising and mentoring others.
Evidence of multidisciplinary and collaborative working.
Experience working in partnership with service users and carers, respecting dignity even in challenging situations.
Desirable
Post-qualifying training (e.g., CBT, family therapy).
Best Interests Assessment training.
