About the Role
Seniors in Touch (SIT) is seeking a motivated and analytical Policy Officer to help strengthen the organisation’s advocacy on issues that matter to older people.
The successful candidate will monitor local and national policy developments, conduct research, and contribute to shaping the charity’s policy positions and advocacy efforts. This flexible, home-based position is ideal for someone with strong research and communication skills who wants to make a meaningful impact within the community.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor local and national policy developments relevant to older people.
Conduct desk research and prepare concise summaries or reports.
Draft policy briefings, consultation responses, or position papers.
Provide updates to the team and trustees on key policy issues.
Support engagement with local councillors, MPs, and other stakeholders.
Occasionally attend Seniors in Touch sessions or meetings in Thamesmead to gather insights or represent the charity.
About You
Essential:
Good understanding of the UK policy and decision-making process.
Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Self-motivated, organised, and capable of working independently.
Interest in issues affecting older people and communities.
Desirable:
Experience in policy, research, or advocacy (paid or voluntary).
Knowledge of ageing, community services, or social care policy.
Experience working in the charity or voluntary sector.
