Main Duties of the Job
Support and Protect Team
Work with families on a short-term basis to complete assessments and on a longer-term basis to implement Child in Need and Child Protection Plans.
Handle pre-proceedings and care proceedings where necessary.
Support children and young people from birth to 18 years old.
Collaborate closely with agencies and teams across Westmorland.
Cared For Team
Work with children in care to ensure they have appropriate care plans to reach their potential.
Support young people leaving care to achieve independence.
Assess and support children seeking asylum.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
Social Work Degree / CSS / DipSW
Registration with Social Work England
Experience (Essential)
Ongoing professional development in social care or social work post-qualification
Successful completion of ASYE portfolio
Knowledge of assessment and case management processes
Familiarity with relevant legislation
Experience working with children and families (pre/post qualification)
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
Ability to plan work, meet deadlines, and manage caseloads effectively
Strong report writing and communication skills
Ability to manage risk and work under emotional pressure
Commitment to social work values and non-discriminatory practice
Willingness to travel within the designated area
Enhanced CRB Clearance
Desirable
Knowledge of children’s services assessment tools
Experience in child protection
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check
