Job Summary

The role is to support the Senior Business Accountants within planned Care in the provision of high quality accurate financial information. Provide analysis and advice to managers within the Trust in the most timely and effective manner, and co-ordinate the production of monthly financial information to facilitate the production of monthly financial reports.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Support the Business Accountant in the provision of financial information, analysis, and advice to budget holders.

  • Support with the production of monthly financial management information, completing variance analysis and forecasting.

  • Attend regular meetings with budget holders and assist in the budget setting process.

  • Support reporting systems that enable an effective financial management service to Unplanned Care.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential:

  • CCAB or CIMA Post Graduate Diploma Level or equivalent experience.

Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years financial management experience, of which 2 years should be in management accounts.

  • Experience of staff management.

Desirable:

  • Experience of NHS Finance.

Skills, Knowledge and Competencies

Essential:

  • Good knowledge of NHS Finance, particularly aspects relevant to financial management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical and reasoning skills.

  • Planning, monitoring and reasoning skills.

  • Ability to lead change and positively influence others.

  • Ability to be both team leader and team player.

  • Ability to work without supervision and deliver to deadlines.

  • Evidence of past achievements and ability to deliver.

  • Proficient with current computer software e.g. Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledge of computerised ledger, budgeting systems and coding structures.

Physical Skills

Essential:

  • Significant computer use, switching tasks at short notice, with an unpredictable workload.

Mental Effort

Essential:

  • Frequent requirement for concentration when inputting data, checking and reconciling information, making calculations, and responding to queries from staff, managers and clinicians.
