As an HCA in Scarborough, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality home care services to our clients. Reporting to the Care Manager, your role involves implementing care plans while ensuring effective communication with clients and their families. Your core skills in driving and home care, combined with premium skills in care planning and IT, will enable you to provide personalized support. A valid driving licence is essential for this position, and your proficiency in English will facilitate clear interactions.

Roles and Responsibilities
To provide personal care and support to Clients with a wide range of needs, illnesses and disabilities
To know and understand the care and support of the Client
To undertake the tasks detailed in the Client’s care and support plan using a person-centred approach and in the least intrusive way
To encourage the independence and motivation of the Client and not foster dependent behaviour
To provide input into care and support plans by feeding back to the Field Care Supervisor/Coordinator
To assist Clients getting up in the morning and going to bed at night
To assist Clients to wash, bathe, and shower
To assist Clients to dress and undress
To assist Clients to look after their skin, teeth, hair, and nails
To assist Clients with toileting, continence management, and personal hygiene
To assist Clients with their medication at the agreed level of support
To prepare food and drink considering the Client’s choices, nutritional needs, and cultural preferences
To provide light general household duties, including housework and laundry
To use manual handling equipment safely and correctly
To handle property and equipment belonging to the Client responsibly
To maintain good communication and build working relationships with Clients
To provide companionship, talk and listen to Clients about their interests
To help Clients maintain contact with family and friends
To accompany Clients on trips into the community
To assist Clients in managing their personal affairs
To ensure a safe living environment while respecting the Client
Qualifications
Must possess a car, valid driver’s licence, and have a clean driving record
Experience in providing care in a home care setting
Familiarity with creating and implementing care plans
Strong communication skills in English
Basic IT skills for documentation purposes
Ability to work effectively in a care home environment
