Job Summary

Velindre Cancer Centre has an opportunity for a Digital Project Manager to join the Digital Services team. The role involves working across the Trust and wider NHS Wales on the implementation of a new Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) system.

This ambitious digital strategy aims to:

  • Revolutionise service delivery

  • Co-produce innovative technologies

  • Enhance digital inclusion

  • Embed data and insight into everyday services

The ePMA project will replace current paper-based prescribing and medicines administration processes. Candidates should have significant experience managing large-scale complex digital projects, ideally within health and social care.

Main Duties of the Role

  • Support a portfolio of service improvement projects across the Trust

  • Act as project manager for specific digital projects

  • Identify required digital resources and inputs across projects

  • Assist with accurate project timescales and go-live planning

  • Allocate resources and manage conflicting priorities

  • Produce and update project plans and documentation

  • Provide guidance, training, and support throughout project lifecycle

  • Supervise project staff and collaborate with other project managers

  • Monitor project budgets and ensure alignment with approved expenditure

  • Support the Digital Programme Team in developing project methodologies

Person Specification

Qualifications & Knowledge (Essential)

  • Masters or equivalent professional/managerial qualification

  • PRINCE 2 Practitioner or other recognised project management qualification

  • Evidence of continued professional development/training

  • Practical project management skills

  • Experience managing complex projects

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, project documents (PID, reports), performance indicators, information governance, and security

Desirable:

  • Membership of a professional body

  • MSP Practitioner

  • Microsoft Project, ECDL

  • Experience developing business cases/strategic documents

  • Knowledge of NHS structures and processes

Experience (Essential)

  • Delivering projects to quality, time, and budget

  • Designing, implementing, and managing projects

  • Knowledge of ICT and project management tools

  • Leadership and communication skills

  • Experience with multidisciplinary teams

  • Managing large-scale projects and budgets

  • Understanding project finances, risks, and benefits

  • Introducing project methodologies to inexperienced teams

  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Desirable:

  • Several years in project/programme environments

  • ICT project experience

  • NHS experience

  • Ability to manage expectations during change

Skills & Attributes (Essential)

  • Understanding of health and social care systems
