Job Summary
Leeds Teaching Hospitals is offering a 12-month fixed term or secondment Business Manager post in the Non-Surgical Oncology service, one of the largest CSUs in the Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, patient-focused manager to support the delivery of high-quality, timely services. The successful candidate will play a key role in:
Improving the speed with which patients move through the service and start treatment.
Redesigning pathways and supporting workforce development.
Engaging with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to develop services.
Applicants must have operational and management experience in a healthcare environment, with strong knowledge of RTT and cancer performance targets, and a proven track record in motivating staff across complex settings.
Main Duties of the Job
Provide Business Manager support for the Non-Surgical Oncology service.
Focus on improving performance against NHS cancer waiting time targets.
Support the Lymphoedema and Palliative Care services within the Oncology CSU.

Job Description
Purpose & Summary
The Business Manager will support the Clinical Service Unit (CSU) by:
Overseeing access and performance for RTT and cancer targets.
Ensuring administrative structures deliver services within budget and quality standards.
Supporting strategic and operational business planning.
Managing budgets and procurement of equipment.
Leading staff, projects, and service development initiatives.
Principal Duties
Support CSU Cost Improvement Programmes.
Lead business cases for service changes, equipment, or staffing.
Oversee waiting lists and ensure targets are met.
Manage administrative and clerical staff, including recruitment, performance, and development.
Work with CSU colleagues, commissioners, and external partners to deliver patient care.
Investigate complaints, manage risks, and contribute to Trust-wide initiatives.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
Commitment to CPD, including management qualification or postgraduate diploma.
Desirable:
Master’s level qualification.
Experience
Essential:
Knowledge of NHS systems, policies, and targets.
Operational management in a healthcare environment.
Budget management, workforce planning, and service redesign.
Experience in leading multi-professional teams.
Desirable:
Previous NHS management experience.
Knowledge of Trust policies (HR, Clinical Governance, Risk Management).
