Caterpillar Peterlee serves as the global source of Cat® Articulated Trucks, manufacturing an 8-model range used in mining, construction, and aggregates industries. The facility uses advanced technologies, including computer analysis systems, robotic technology, and an automated paint plant. Machines from this site are shipped to customers worldwide.
The Opportunity
The Facilities Engineer role supports the full site operation by maintaining facilities and driving continuous improvements to meet Caterpillar’s business PQVC goals.
Responsibilities include a broad range of site facilities maintenance functions, such as building repairs, roadway maintenance, utilities management, HVAC systems, cleaning services, data and power installations, and coordination of capital projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform or assist in both reactive and preventative maintenance activities.
Monitor and maintain parts and tools inventory for infrastructure and services.
Provide first-line support for building service issues and work requests.
Collaborate with other facilities engineers to support value stream customers.
Promote safety culture and compliance within the Facilities Team and among contractors.
Lead and support capital projects aligned with business priorities.
Support NPI and capacity programs by resourcing facility moves effectively.
Desirable Qualifications
NEBOSH/IOSH qualification or evidence of safety improvements
Minimum HNC qualification

Strong facilities maintenance experience
Background in installation and maintenance of large or multiple facility processes
Ability to monitor environmental, safety, and equipment standards
Experience in process improvement and change management
Effective customer and vendor relationship management
Understanding of building security and compliance
Analytical, creative, and logical problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER, CORGI, and IEE regulations
Excellent PC, communication, and presentation skills
Experience in production environment operations
Education: Degree or equivalent experience preferred
Skills and Knowledge
Effective Communication: Strong understanding of communication techniques to interpret and share ideas clearly.
Problem Solving: Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve operational or process-related problems.
Project Management: Basic understanding of project planning and execution.
Manufacturing Standards: Knowledge of organizational standards and compliance procedures.
Plant Facilities Management: Comprehensive understanding of facility and infrastructure management processes.
Technical Troubleshooting: Skilled in identifying and resolving technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
