The Adult Social Care function for individuals with mental health needs is undergoing a significant transformation in Gloucestershire. Currently based within Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (GHC), the mental health social care offer is transitioning back to Gloucestershire County Council over the next 12 months.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a service in transition — shaping the future of mental health social care in Gloucestershire.
The company is seeking experienced and passionate Mental Health Social Workers or Adult Social Care Social Workers with an interest in mental health. A strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and Section 117 aftercare duties is essential, as the role involves managing new requests for support.
The position is based within Community Mental Health Teams, working in a multi-disciplinary environment alongside NHS colleagues. Independent travel across Gloucestershire is required, as locations are widespread and often rural.

Main Duties of the Job
Fulfil delegated Adult Social Care statutory duties on behalf of the Local Authority
Complete timely assessments under the Care Act 2014 and Section 117 of the Mental Health Act
Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams across Gloucestershire and beyond
Practise in line with Care Act principles, focusing on prevention, reduction, and delay
Support individuals under Section 117 with a focus on independence, recovery, and social inclusion

Essential
Social Work Qualification
Registered with Social Work England
Evidence of ASYE in Employment or equivalent post-qualifying statutory experience
Experience in an adults statutory setting
Experience working with individuals with complex and co-existing health and social care needs
Experience, understanding, and application of risk assessment and risk management methods, alongside multi-agency procedures
Desirable
Experience within the Safeguarding framework as set out in the Care Act 2014
Evidence of continuing professional development
Understanding of the structure of Mental Health and social care services in Gloucestershire
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
