This opportunity is available for Full-time (20-hour) contracts in the Cityside and Waterside areas of Derry/Londonderry. Domiciliary Care Workers provide essential support to adults in the community, helping them maintain independence and quality of life.
No previous experience is required — full training is provided.
Available Shifts
Morning/Lunch Runs: 7:00 am – 2:00 pm
Night/‘Bed’ Runs: 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Full-time workers may combine both shift types or work a permanent morning/lunch run.
Rotas:
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday
Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Pay Rates
Strabane & District Caring Services offers highly competitive wages and mileage reimbursement at 30p per mile.
Weekend Rate (Friday nights, Saturday, Sunday): £14.15 per hour
Monday–Thursday Night Runs: £13.15 per hour
Monday–Thursday Morning/Lunch & Tea Runs: £12.60 per hour
Job Duties
As a Domiciliary Care Worker, the role involves working as part of a team to deliver personal and domestic care to adults at risk, including the elderly and those with physical or mental health challenges, in their own homes.
This role requires compassion, dedication, and a genuine interest in improving the lives of vulnerable members of the community.
Essential Criteria
Full valid driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Understanding of health and safety in the workplace
Ability to promote and deliver personal care with dignity and respect
Flexibility to cover additional hours when required
Desirable Criteria
6 months of experience in a formal care setting
NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent qualification
NISCC registered (or willingness to register upon appointment)
Knowledge of domiciliary care minimum standards
Additional Information
Successful applicants will be required to undergo an Enhanced Access NI check. Having a criminal conviction will not necessarily prevent employment; decisions will depend on disclosure details and role suitability.
Applicants must register with NISCC by their start date.
