Job Summary
Leeds Teaching Hospitals is seeking an exceptional individual to join the Pathology CSU management team as a Business Development Manager. This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable, high-quality pathology services for patients and clinicians across Leeds and beyond.
The Pathology CSU is undergoing major transformation, including a transition to the Centre for Laboratory Medicine at St James Hospital and the implementation of a new regional IT system. The role will involve supporting ongoing development with partner trusts.
The ideal candidate should have strong communication, leadership, and service development skills within a pathology environment, along with the operational experience to ensure consistent delivery of key patient-centred outcomes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide management support and lead the business development function within the Pathology CSU.
Develop and deliver a business development strategy to enhance the CSU’s role as a regional and national pathology service provider.
Collaborate with the Trust contracting team and external stakeholders to strengthen relationships and strategic partnerships.
Oversee CSU budgets, staff, and procurement of medical and scientific equipment.
Lead the development of business cases, new service models, and revenue generation opportunities.
Contribute to CSU service development, financial planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
Coordinate and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensure delivery against financial and operational targets.
Motivate staff, lead projects to modernise service delivery, and manage clinical and business risks effectively.
Develop and monitor service plans, ensuring alignment with Trust-wide objectives.
Produce detailed reports, proposals, and business plans for internal and external use.
Participate in cross-CSU projects and contribute to Trust-wide initiatives.

Experience in a Pathology environment.
Proven success in operational management within a multi-professional setting.
Experience in budget management, workforce planning, and strategy development.
Track record of developing revenue streams, pricing models, and service level agreements.
Knowledge of NHS systems, business planning, and service reconfiguration.
Desirable:
NHS management experience.
