Job Summary

Are you passionate about how digital can transform community and mental health services, for patients and staff? There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join the Connecting Care Programme team to work collaboratively with colleagues across DHCW and Health Boards across Wales. The role will focus on managing a project to coordinate the procurement and implementation of critical digital systems across community and mental health services in Wales.

The successful candidate will join the programme at an exciting time and must be an experienced project manager and skilled communicator able to hit the ground running as the organisation delivers to ambitious targets and timescales.

This post is fixed term for 5 months due to funding.

Main Duties of the Job

What you will do:

  • Lead and manage project teams, deputising as necessary.

  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring objectives are met within agreed time, cost, and quality constraints.

  • Contribute to project governance and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver outputs and realise benefits.

  • Develop and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships across clinical, technical, and operational groups.

  • Develop and maintain project plans, coordinate complex activities, and manage dependencies across multiple projects.

Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) is an expert national body and part of NHS Wales. The organisation works in partnership with NHS Wales colleagues and other stakeholders to provide national digital and data services supporting the delivery of health and social care in Wales.

Job Description

Accountabilities Include:

  • Communicating highly complex information relating to specific service changes, often contentious and with major impacts on established workflows.

  • Managing a wide range of internal and external stakeholder relationships with conflicting priorities.

  • Using strong influencing skills to build alliances and act as a key contact for external parties.

  • Ensuring effective coordination and reporting to relevant boards or committees.

  • Supporting a major procurement project across seven health boards.

  • Supporting communication and tracking of benefits realisation across stakeholders.

Person Specification

Qualifications – Essential

  • Masters qualification in a relevant field (or equivalent experience)

  • Relevant Project Management professional registration such as PM Chartered Project Professional or PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner

  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Qualifications – Desirable

  • Certification such as Agile Project Management (APM), PMI Project Management Professional, Project Leadership Programme (PLP), P3O Practitioner

  • Knowledge of NHS Wales or the health sector

Experience

Essential

  • Experience successfully leading and managing moderate to complex transformation projects

  • Knowledge of stakeholder identification, analysis, and relationship management

  • Experience working within frameworks and methodologies for compliance and quality standards

  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate programme risks and issues

  • Knowledge of programme management tools and techniques

  • Experience preparing and monitoring budgets

  • Proficiency in assurance processes and resource management

  • Experience identifying and promoting best practices and lessons learned

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NHS or health sector digital solutions
